Invitation for Bids (IFB)
The Cooperative Republic of Guyana


  1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this project that appeared in Development Business, issue no. IDB42-01/15 of January 14, 2015.

  2. The Co-operative Republic of Guyana has received a grant from the Inter-America Development Bank toward the cost of the Sustainable Energy program for Guyana. And it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this Credit to payment under the contract for Design, Supply and Installation of a 300kW Hydropower Plant on the Chiung River, Kato Village, Region 8 (IDB-GEF/W/01/2017).

  3. The Ministry of Public Infrastructure now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for Design, Supply and Installation of a 300kW hydropower Plant on the Chiung River, Kato Village, Region 8. The delivery/construction period is 790 days after the Start Date.

  4. Bidding will be conducted through the international Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the Inter-American Bank’s Policies for the Procurement of Goods & Works financed by the Inter-American Bank, and is opened to all bidders of Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Bidding Documents.

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and inspect the Bidding Documents at 295 Quamina Street South Cummingsburg Georgetown, Guyana from Mondays- Thursday 8:00 AM – 4:00PM and Fridays 8:00 AM -3:00 PM.

  6. Qualification requirements include: (i) experience as prime contractor in construction of at least two (2) works of a nature and complexity equivalent to the works over the last five years; and (ii) average annual billing of construction work over the last five years of at least 0.25 of the referential budget. Addition details are provided in the bidding documents. A margin of preference for national contractors /JVCAs shall not be applied.

  8. Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 9:00 AM. October 31, 2017. Electronic bidding shall not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened physically in the presence of the bidders‘ representatives who choose to attend in person at the address below at 9:00 AM, October 31, 2017.

  9. All bids shall be accompanied by a Bid security of US$40,000.
